In the beginning was the stone...

Our history

Egbert Reitz first worked with "technical stones" in 1986. The company LEITZ in Wetzlar (now Hexagon) was the motivation to switch from tombstones to measuring discs. LEITZ had precision problems. The problem at LEITZ gave rise to the idea at REITZ of switching to the production of precision machines for measuring technology.

The only problem was that there were no machines on the market for processing granite blocks. Egbert Reitz and his team had to design and build their own machines. The market, product and industry knowledge that REITZ acquired early on enabled the company not only to realise machines for the industry in components, assemblies or completely, but also to accompany the entire process from brainstorming and finding solutions to the commissioning of the finished machine professionally and independently. Today, REITZ is the market leader for customised machines in this field.

The origins of REITZ date back to September 1946, when Herrmann Reitz began extracting raw stone from his own quarry in Asslar. The third generation, Egbert Reitz, continued gravestone production from 1984 to 1987, before the first measuring plates fundamentally changed the business model and further development.

The next generation is already waiting in the wings: Junior boss Christopher Reitz is ready to write the next chapters in the company's history.

Values-based corporate culture

We believe that trust is the basis for precision. That is why we act according to clear principles:

  • Respect – when dealing with customers, partners and in the team.
  • Appreciation – for craftsmanship, for ideas, for the people behind the technology.
  • Integration – because diversity makes us stronger and makes innovation possible.

The value compass of respect, appreciation and integration, which has emerged naturally from acting as a family over generations, sets the direction of the company today. In everyday life, it is small gestures, genuine interest, unobtrusive assistance and open words that sometimes work wonders.

The team behind REITZ

Our employees are the basic of our success. Whether they are specialists, trainees or engineers – at REITZ, it's their skills, attitude and passion for precision that count.
